    "The purpose of the Lewisville Historical Society shall be to discover, collect and promote the preservation of Lewisville history and preserve historical landmarks."

Established in 1991, the Lewisville Historical Society offers numerous opportunities for children, teens & adults to participate in community heritage activities throughout the year:

*  Provides speakers & presentations of regional historic interest at bi-monthly  membership meetings

*  Conducts tours of area historic sites, such as the Shallow Ford Walks

*  Co-sponsors local history community events, such as the Great Wagon Road Day celebration & the Battle of the Shallow Ford re-enactment

*  Collects & preserves materials housed in a public access archives:  documents, photographs, memorabilia, oral histories & genealogies illustrating the people, places & events that shaped settlement of the Lewisville community

*  Erects informative historic markers at properties throughout the Lewisville community, visible 24/7

*  Participates in regional festivals & events, such as the annual Yadkin Valley Historical Association "History Fair & Conference" & Preserve Historic Forsyth's various activities

*  Speaks to schools & organizations about area historical topics

*  Designs informative displays for booths & tabletops at area events, such as the annual Dixie Classic Fair educational exhibits

*  Raises funds to support the variety of activities & projects of the Society
