     The LEWISVILLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY meets bi-monthly on the second Monday of these months: January, March, May, July, September, November.

     Meetings are held at the Lewisville Branch Public Library at 6490 Shallowford Road in the heart of Lewisville, NC, with occasional meetings held at historic sites as noted.

     Everyone is cordially invited to attend meetings which are free and open to the public! 

Refreshments 6:30-7:00pm - Meeting at 7:00pm

"The Hope - Fraternity Community"

 Michael and Martha Hartley will discuss the origins of this Moravian and German Baptist community located at the confluence of the three forks of Muddy Creek in southwestern Forsyth County. 

With origins in the earliest years of settlement in Wachovia during the 18th century, the people and landscape of the Hope Moravian and Fraternity Church of the Brethren community will be illustrated from their beginnings to the present.  

Michael O. Hartley is the Director of Archeology at Old Salem Museum & Gardens.  Martha B. Hartley is Researcher and Planner for the Division of Restoration at Salem Museum & Gardens.

Craft Brothers Quartet & Crossview in Concert

The Craft Brothers Gospel Quartet will perform in concert at Lewisville United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 20th, 2011 at 7:00pm.  Crossview will also perform during the evening.  The church is located at 6290 Shallowford Road.

Natives of Lewisville, Ed, James, John and Ray Craft began singing as a gospel quartet in 1955.  As children, they attended Harmony Grove United Methodist Church where their father directed music.  Their parents, Gurney and Nola Craft, nurtured their son's love of music in their home.

The Craft Brothers have been singing regionally for churches, revivals and community events for 56 years and have recorded some of their music.

Admission is free! 

Donations will be accepted supporting the Nissen House Preservation Project of the Lewisville Historical Society.
